Come Away, O Human Child

And so we’re back!

Not quite from outer space, but possibly one of the danker, less respectable dimensions next door. We’re looking forward to bringing you another year’s worth of strange and fabulous audio treats, as well as the occasional competition and special edition, and to do so we need your help, my handsome little goblins.

For 2013 we’re taking a slightly new approach. There will be themes, and we will be telling you about them beforehand – the first new episode of the year will be coming in March, and the broad theme is “Folklore and Fairy Tales”. Now, we’re still hoping to cover our genres of choice – namely Fantasy, Science-Fiction and Horror – so feel free to be as wild as possible with your fiction-weaving. Can you write a story about the Seelie Court and make it science-fiction? Can you conjure an epic fantasy from the earliest of stories? Do fairy tales lend themselves to horror? (I suspect they do; in fact I suspect they are the very roots of horror).

For the first time we’ll be looking at original stories as well as reprints, so send us your tales of stone, feather and iron by Thursday the 28th of February to be considered for the March episode, and if you have any questions please do contact me on jen@sennydreadful.com

Please use the submissions form here to submit your stories.

General submission details below:

-We deal specifically in short stories. The definition of short story is debatable but a rough guide would be anything above 1000 word and below 7000.

-You must have the rights to the story. If your story has been sold under first rights exclusive, you may need to check with your publisher to ensure you are allowed to re-publish. If in doubt please contact your publisher. It is your responsibility to ensure you have the rights to allow us to publish your story.

-We are not a paying market. Our ethos is to grow the short fiction market by providing a free service to authors and readers alike.

-We are open to multiple submissions but only one per form submission.

Before submitting anything please listen to what we have produced so far to familiarise yourself with the kind of story that we publish.
